Jenkins - Rev. Charles "HotRod" Wesley Jenkins, age 89, of Lake Butler, Florida passed away February 18, 2021 at his home with loving family by his side. He was born in Fort Myers, Florida to the late Jacob Wesley Jenkins and Ruth M. Davis Jenkins. Charles was a resident of Lake Butler most of his life. For over 30 years Charles served and Pastored several AME Churches in the surrounding counties. Charles graduated from Stanton High School and attended Edward Waters College for his Associates Degree. Charles honorably served his country in the United States Army. He worked many years as a Correctional Officer with the Union Correctional Institute. Charles was also an auto body mechanic and enjoyed working on cars and watching Daytona NASCAR racing. He also enjoyed wrestling on Saturday with his family and attended most of the Union County football games.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; son, David Lenorris Jenkins; brother, David Nathaniel Jenkins; and sister, Mercedes Yvonne Turpins.
Charles is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Janeen Jenkins of Lake Butler, Fl; children, Elaine Jenkins of Lake Butler, Fl, Laverne Jenkins of Newberry, Fl, Ronnie (Phyliss) Jenkins of Gainesville, Fl, and Mildred Jenkins of Gainesville, Fl; 20 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Fort Call Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Lavern D. Glasco officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
