Vincent Lunnell Timmons, the sixth of fifteen children was born June 2, 1952 in Columbia County, Florida to the late Dorothy L. Timmons and the late Robert L. Timmons, Sr. Deacon Vincent "Poppa" Timmons heard the Master's voice, answered the call, and transitioned into Eternal Rest. Vince attended school in Columbia County, graduating from Columbia High School with the class of 1970. He was employed by Metal Products and later worked with the Department of Transportation as a Motor Carrier Compliance Officer from where he retired in 2009. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Greater Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. George S. Stewart and was ordained as a Deacon in March 2009. Deacon Timmons was a faithful and dutiful servant to his church, members, and the community. His passion was helping young kids thrive through little league football where he coached for over 30 years. He also spent many years volunteering for the Police Special Olympics until he retired. He was a great mentor to all of his nephews. Vince never met a stranger and was loving, kind and humble in spirit to all those he met. Other precedents in death include: sister, Roberta Timmons; brothers, Robert L. Timmons, Jr., Handy Timmons, and Willie Marion Timmons; grandparents, Rev. Ed Timmons, Leatha Timmons, Ray Forshee and Maybel Parrish.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted fiancée Lesia "Red" Clark; one daughter, Dollenia Strive (Blaine); one son, Vincent Timmons; extended children, Lageisha Clark, Steven Jernigan; one grandson, Ke'Von Pittman; additional loving grandchildren, Zyuana Jernigan and Zayben Jernigan; sisters, Leatha (Bishop C. Kenneth Troupe), Mary Henry (Ed), Betty, Dorothy Harris (Ennis), Pinky, Denise Mayo; sister-in-law, Cloretha Timmons; brothers, George (Sharon), Tommie (Lenora), Morris, Arthur (Nedra), Ronald (Deneil), and Nathaniel Rentz; godbrother, Anthony Smith (Felecia); aunts, Catherine Pierce, Mabel Parrish; uncles, Aaron and Vasco (Jeanette); close cousins, Pauline McQueen , Joyce Waters; special friends, Walter Brewer, David Everett, Dusty Gallegos, Jimmy Gardner, and Addison; hosts of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Celebratory services for Deacon Vincent Timmons will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Bread of Life Ministry, 898 SW Deputy J Davis Lane, Lake City, FL.
Viewing will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Friday, February 19, 2021, at Richardson Community Center, Lake City, FL.
