Mr. Roger Gerald Ratliff, 61, a lifelong resident of Columbia County, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in the Shands at U.F. hospital in Gainesville following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Charles Owen and Margaret Christine Beret Ratliff. Mr. Ratliff had been a heavy equipment operator at Columbia Salvage. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed fishing, garage sales, hanging out with his buddies, and collecting items and putting them in his shop. He referred to his shop as his "EMPIRE". He enjoyed watching old Westerns on T.V. but most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and especially enjoyed "aggravating" Connie, his wife of thirty nine years. He was preceded in death by three brothers Richard and Earl Ratliff and Billy Long. Three sisters Joann Terrell, Judy Ratliff, and Sandy Harden also preceded him. Mr. Ratliff attended Huntsville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Akins Ratliff; three daughters Tocha Feagle (Shelton)Lake City, FL; Heather Manning (Michael) Middleburgh, FL; and Tiffany Ratliff of Lake City, FL; three sisters Jean McLoud (Alan) Lake City, FL; Sherrel Corbett (Larry) Callahan, FL; and Debbie Thomas (Ricky) Lake City, FL. Five grandchildren, Braxton Feagle, Abbigail Manning, Kameron Feagle, Olivia "Shortcake" Manning, and Frank Manning also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Roger Ratliff will be conducted Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Steele and Rev. Randy Ogburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery (located on Hwy 441 North of Lake City, FL.)
