BALDWIN -- Michael Douglas Duffing passed away quietly on April 2, 2018, at his home in Lebanon, Mo., after a long illness. He was surrounded by our loving brother, Stephan Duffing, and his wife, Sharen.
Mike was born in Reed City on Jan. 17, 1946, and resided in Baldwin until he was 17, when he moved to Deming, N.M., where he would live for the next 30 years. He moved back to Michigan and spent about 10 years between there and Florida, where he worshiped and volunteered at the Florida Holiness Camp. In 2014, he moved to Lebanon to be with our brother, Steve Duffing, and his family.
He was a Christian and attended the Church Of Christ in Big Rapids. Mike was loved by all his nieces and nephews and everyone who knew him. He always wanted to be loved for who he was on the inside. He had many talents, including teaching, woodworking, computers and music. He was a very tenderhearted, kind and compassionate person and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by two sisters, Patricia (Stan) Cousineau, of Baldwin, and Elizabeth (Mike) Bosley, of Reed City; two brothers, Steve (Sharen) Duffing, of Lebanon, Mo., and James Beemer, of Baldwin, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Duffing; father, Robert John Duffing; five brothers, Robert, Ralph, Richard, George and Billy; and seven sisters, Shirley, Pat, Marie, Marianne, Tina, Sharon and Rose Marie.
His wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes spread on his beloved Florida mountains in Deming, N.M. where he put our mother's ashes.

I am Dick Beemer's son or unlce Mike's nephew. The last time I seen Mike was when I visited him and Grandma Duffing in Deming, NM in June of 1986. It had been over 15 years since I had seen any of my father's family so it was a bit weird spending the afternoon/dinner and then leaving to camp in the mountains. It was like the scene in European Vacation movie where the Griswalds visited what they thought was their distant relatives in Germany.
I regret not visiting more of my father's family and unfortunately our children will never know them or not much of my mother's family as well since Mary Ann passed so early in their lives. The last time I visited MI was in fall of 1991 seeing Uncle James and his family in Baldwin, MI.
