Lois Lenora Strait's family is saddened to announce her peaceful passing on September 1, 2018 in Broomfield, Colorado at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bobby Strait, her parents Alex Hignite and Iva Hignite, and her brother Paul Hignite.
Lois was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma on May 10,1933. She married Bobby Strait December 22, 1951. Lois was a devoted mother of Rebecca Hackenberry (Stephen), and Connie Linthicum (Jeff). After the Air Force and school they made Los Alamos, NM their home. Lois could make anything grow and bloom. When not in the garden she was in the kitchen. She could make any pie or cake, but coconut was her specialty. Her talents included entertaining in her home, decorating and sewing. She taught herself to knit and crotchet which she gifted to many. Lois enjoyed being active with friends for bridge, garden club and church. She never missed her daily Bible reading.
Lois and Bobby retired to North Carolina where they lived for 25 years. Four of those years were spent in Florida then back to North Carolina. Last year they moved to Broomfield, Colorado where they enjoyed the mountain views and snow.
Lois became an involved grandma to Jennifer Wells (Grace), Patrick Hackenberry (Valerie), Kristopher Hackenberry (Kim), Holly Mitchell (Mason), and Angie Ripley. She has 10 great grandchildren. Lois is survived by 7 brothers and 3 sisters, many nieces and nephews.
The family will gather Sunday September 2 to celebrate Lois' live. She will later be laid to rest with the love of her life, Bobby.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Becky, Connie and all of Lois's family. We have such fond memories of our friendship with Lois and Bobby, going way back to K-State in the '50's.
