Elizabeth Pack Mansfield died Thursday morning, October 11, 2018 following a difficult year facing cancer. She was born June 1, 1970 in Provo, Utah and lived her first few years in Orem, Utah, and then in Los Alamos, New Mexico. She graduated with the Los Alamos High Class of '88, and went on to study molecular biology, receiving a BS from Brigham Young University and an MS from Johns Hopkins University. She served as a missionary in southern Germany and Austria for the 1991-1993, and she married on August 18, 1994. She made her homes as a married woman in Baltimore; Los Angeles; Livonia, Michigan; Damascus, Maryland; and North Potomac, Maryland from 2009 until her death.
Two of her life-long interests were soccer and music. She competed on her high school and college's teams, joined with adult recreational leagues in LA and Michigan, and coached several children's teams. Everywhere she lived, she was a violinist in a school or community orchestra, including the Frederick Symphony Orchestra 2008-2017. She felt a responsibility as a musician to not become someone who used to play, to teach, and to organize performances, sometimes drawing in people who had lost touch with the musical part of their lives.
She is survived by her husband John R. Mansfield; her six children Anson John, Joseph Abraham, Samuel Allen, John Robert III, Michael Elijah and Miriam Elizabeth. Also her parents Russell T Pack and Marion Myrth Hassell Pack of Los Alamos; her sister Miriam Pack of Peoria, AZ; and her five brothers John (Sharee) of Flint, MI; Nathan (Mary Lynn) of Las Cruces, NM; Allen (widower of Erin K) of Centennial, CO; Quinn (Erin Marie) of Ellington, CT; and Howard (Whitney) of Cortez, CO.
