Charles Alfred Obituary
Columbus - Charles "Chuz" Alfred, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct 31, 2018. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio in 1932, and was preceded in death this year by his dear "Maggie", wife of 56 years. He is survived by his five children: Ted, Mike, Julie, Jen, and Dan; daughters-in-law, Teresa, Jill, and Sheyla Alfred; sons-in-law, Greg Hammond and Kevin McDonnell; and nine cherished grandchildren. Chuz was a realtor by day and a jazz musician by night, and those two worlds continually intertwined to bear long-lasting relationships that endure to this very day. Even in his last months, many musical projects were at work in his heart and mind, and his foot never stopped tapping. His genuine love for music and people left a distinct impression on all those who were graced to know him. Family will receive friends on Monday Nov 5 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Frank E. Smith's funeral home, 405 N. Columbus St, Lancaster, OH 43130. Funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, followed by graveside service at Forest Rose Cemetery, 1238 N. Columbus St, Lancaster. Sorry to hear of Chuz's passing. I've known Chuz for 50+ years and have worked with him on numerous occasions. He was always a great player and fun on the job. He was also always helpful answering my real estate questions. Columbus has lost a great, innovative horn player and I have lost a good friend. My sympathy to his family.

Deeply sorry for the passing of our dear friend, with whom Rich and I shared so many memorable times. Chuz and Maggie were our neighbors, our children grew up together, and we shared his love of music, actively, when we lived in Columbus; he was an exceptional talent.
