Martha Allen Kumler Obituary
Martha Allen Kumler

BALTIMORE - Martha Allen Kumler, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, departed this Earth peacefully at home on August 26, 2019. Born on April 16,1942 to Cecil and Betty Allen of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Martha lived and attended school in communities in California, New Jersey, Indiana, Arizona, and Ohio, as well as in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil. In high school she modeled clothing for Halle's department store in Cleveland. Following graduation from Rocky River High School, Martha completed a B.A. degree in English and received Dental Hygiene certification (RDH) from the Ohio State University in 1964. She resided with her husband, Karl, and children in central Ohio for the remainder of her life. In addition to her outstanding work as a dental hygienist and instructor of dental hygiene at OSU, Martha served in many leadership volunteer positions, including President, Vice President, and Technology Chairman of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity/Alumnae Association. Martha was an avid and competitive tennis player whose slice serve was the envy of many. She also enjoyed reading, computers, Bible study, and family history. Her love, poise, strength, and grace touched all with whom she worked and provided the foundation for our happiness and livelihoods.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Betty; she is survived by her husband, Karl; her children, Bill (Ellen) and Lori (Hans) who both reside in Ohio, Katie (Matt) who reside in Massachusetts; and Kevin (Keara) who reside in New Jersey; her sister Nancy; and 12 grandchildren.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Alban's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, scholarship donations (leadership academy or general) may be made to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation (6640 Riverside Drive, Suite 200, Dublin, OH 43017) or to St. Alban's Episcopal Church (333 Drexel Ave., Bexley, OH 43209).
