Richard L. Roundhouse, 69, of Lancaster passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born on October 7, 1951 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Richard F. (Dick) and Matilda (Jean) Roundhouse. Richard was a generous and loving brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Richard was a 1969 graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School and a 1971 graduate of Columbus Technical Institute; he also attended The Ohio State University. Richard was a transportation, operations, and logistics manager who also did sales and consulting work. Over the course of his career in Columbus, he worked for Borden Chemical, Ashland Chemical, Montgomery Tank Lines, and Dana Suttles Trucking. He completed his career in Charlotte, North Carolina working for Invista Sarl, LLC. After moving back home to Lancaster, Richard spent his retirement years enjoying life on a family farm.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Jean Roundhouse, sister Joyce Ortman, and brother Royce Roundhouse.
He is survived by his siblings: David (Kathy) Roundhouse, Doug (Mia) Roundhouse, Diane (Mike) Wolfe, Donna (Mike) Reincheld, all of Lancaster; Lois Grayson of Canal Winchester, Roger (Jennifer) Roundhouse of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Ross (Jody Ruble-Castle) Roundhouse of Oldsmar, Florida, brother-in-law John Ortman of Lancaster, and sister-in-law Tracy Roundhouse of Amelia, Ohio. Richard is survived by dear friend, Penny Osterman as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 4-6 p.m. at Sheridan Funeral Home in Lancaster. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Bremen with Fr. Denis Kigozi as celebrant. Masks and distancing will be required at both events. A private interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice
in Richard's honor. The family would like to thank the staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Fairfield Medical Center for their compassionate care.
