Elmer Lee Chelf, 80, of Hodgenville, passed away, Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
He was a founding member of Jericho Church, which is now the Hodgenville Pentecostal Church, member of Gavel Lodge #813, now Gavel Lodge #570 in Magnolia for over 40 years, retired insurance salesman for American General and in retirement worked for 16 years as a greeter at Wal-Mart. He and his wife also owned and operated Ruthies Lincoln Freeze in Hodgenville for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Mildred Druen Chelf.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth Mae Hutcherson Chelf; a daughter, Judy Kaye Grimes of Hodgenville; a son, Ronnie Lee (Donna) Chelf of Hodgenville; five grandsons, Jason (Lisa) Chelf, Chris (Christa) Grimes, Jeremy Grimes, Scotty (Whitney) Chelf and Justin Chelf, and four great-grandchildren, Ayden Chelf, Deacon Chelf, Braxton Chelf and Mady Wiatr.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20 at the Hodgenville Pentecostal Church with the Reverend David Webb and Reverend James Suits officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. on 12-8 on Tuesday, April 19 and after 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20 at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.
