Carlos "Charlie" Urioste, 84, of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Charlie was born on Nov. 28, 1934, to Carlos and Petra Pacheco Urioste in Chaperito, N.M.
Charlie is predeceased by his parents, brothers John, Felipe (Flora), Pete (Tessie) and Simon (Juanita) Urioste and sisters Cruzita (Rosendo) Garduno, Maria (Ben) Arguello, Juanita Gonzales and Josie (Melecio) Vigil.
Charlie is survived by his sister, Tillie Albert, and brother Tony (Martha). Charlie is also survived by his wife of 59 years, Diana; children Elizabeth, Sandra, Carlos, Patrick and Joe Dennis and granddaughter Kayla Marie.
After he was born and raised in Chaperito, Charlie moved to Las Vegas to attend school and graduated from Las Vegas High School. He then joined the Army in 1957 and served in the 82nd Airborne Division.
After being honorably discharged from the armed services, Charlie owned and operated Charlie's Gulf and Auto Service for more than 40 years.
After retiring as a business owner, Charlie worked for the New Mexico Legislature from 2001 to 2011.
Charlie enjoyed reading, hunting, horseback riding, spending much time outdoors, playing card games and winning at the casino.
Services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, with a rosary at 8 a.m. and a mass immediately following. He will be honorably laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 11:15 a.m.

Dear Charlie Urioste family. Please accept our condolences on Charlies departure. I knew Charlie in Chaperito and in Las Vegas (Lucinda (Sena) Garcia and in Las Vegas.
