Jose "Kiko" Griego, 76, of Santana, N.M., passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, in Albuquerque, N.M.
He was born Nov. 4, 1941, in Santana to parents Pablo Griego and Barbarita Rodriguez
He was a Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Simon and Ramon Griego, sister Petra Gonzales, and sons Frankie and Francisco Griego.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary E. Griego, of the family home. Daughters and sons Lorriane Benavidez of Santa Fe, N.M.; Lawrence Griego of Santana; Elizabeth Tapia, Jeanette Baca (Estolano), Jessie Aragon (Julia) of Las Vegas; Joseph Aragon (Christella) of Bernalillo, N.M. and Francilla Griego of Santa Fe; grandchildren he raised Diego Aragon (Evelyn), Desiree Griego (Wallace), of Las Vegas; Johnny Griego (Sherriann) of San Juan, N.M.; Gabriella Griego (Angelo), Jessica Lucero (Gerard) of Las Vegas; great-granddaughter he raised, Leandra Aragon of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister Erlinda Martinez, brothers Jacobo Griego of Las Vegas, Ezequiel Griego (Dorothy) of Tecolote, N.M., Ignacio Griego (Pam) of Rocky Ford, Colo.; Santiago Griego of Las Vegas, N.M.; brother-in-law Robert Aragon (Molly) of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law Tillie Gross of Albuquerque; Suzie Gallegos of Belen, N.M.; Mary Lou Archuleta and Cecilia Parson of Albuquerque and Dolores Pacheco of Las Vegas; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A rosary service will be recited Friday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m., and funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at 9 a.m., with both services to be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant.
Interment will follow the funeral, at the Griego Family Cemetery in Santana, with the following serving as casket bearers: Rudy Griego, Jessie Aragon, Joseph Aragon, Diego Aragon, Trinnie Sanchez and Mario Baca.
Serving as honorary bearers will be Johnny Griego, Frankie Griego, Wallace Sanchez, Estolano Chavez and Toby Martinez.
