Pat Sanchez, 81, a resident of San Juan, New Mexico, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 in San Juan.
He was born in Aug. 20, 1936 to Atanacio Sanchez and Josefita Flores Sanchez in San Juan. Pat served in the U.S. Navy from October 1955 to October 1961. He worked as a custodian for 22 years at Pecos Independent Schools. He enjoyed fishing, was a firefighter and volunteered as an umpire for the Little League.
A Catholic, he was a member of San Miguel del Vado Church in San Miguel, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Atanacio and Josefita Sanchez; brother Philly Sanchez; sisters Eliza Villas and Arabella Padilla and grandson Alfred Bazan, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sanchez, of the family home in San Juan; daughter and sons Marsha Sanchez of Ribera, N.M.; Anthony Sanchez of Springer, N.M.; David Sanchez (Iris) of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren Johnny (Jessica), Debra (Andy), Ryan, Ciara, Adian, Sonya, David and Lisa; great-grandchildren Mikaela, Joaquin, Lorenzo, Emily, Veronica, Rebeka and Aliya; brother and sisters Richard Sanchez and wife Gloria of Los Lunas, N.M.; Evelyn Rivera, Minnie Rivera both of Ribera; Mary Lou Padilla (Jerry) of La Manga, N.M.; brother-in-law Andy Lopez (Linda); sisters-in-law Agnes Ortega JoAnn Guhl (Marvin) all of Pecos, N.M.; Mary Louise Sanchez of Ribera, N.M.; numerous: nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A rosary service will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at 9 a.m. with funeral service immediately following at San Miguel del Vado Church in San Miguel, NM with Father Vincent Dominguez as Celebrant. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery with military honors and the following serving as casket bearers Johnny Sanchez, Joaquin Sanchez, Adian Sanchez, Ciara Sanchez, Debra Bazan, Ryan Bazan, Andy Post and Clyde Sanchez.
Honorary bearers will be all his remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
