Ramon D. Gurule, 81, a resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30., 2018, following a prolonged illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Lenore Olivas Gurule; his first wife, Mariquita Gurule; brother Richard Gurule; grandson James Gurule; and his grandmother Juanita Olivas.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille of Las Vegas, N.M.; daughters Barbara Zesati of Brighton, Colo., Reena Sena (George) of Las Vegas, N.M., Shirley Sandoval (Michael) of North San Isidro, N.M., and Anabell Latimore of Wasilla, Alaska; sons Ramon Gurule Jr. (Georgette) of Commerce City, Colo., James and David Gurule, both of Brighton, Colo. and Luis Aragon (Yolanda) of San Jose, N.M.; brothers Leo Gurule (Mary) of Thorton, Colo., Frank and Severo Gurule, both of Denver, Colo., Joe Gurule (Crystal) and Ernest Gurule (Sally), all of Lake Jackson, Texas; sisters Teresa Trujillo (Eddie) of Denver, Colo., Mary Griego, Aggie Griego, Flora Barela (Manuel) and Patsy Sena all of Las Vegas, N.M.; 25 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.
He was born in Manuelitas, N.M. on Feb. 28, 1937. He was a foreman for the Olson Construction Company, doing commercial construction. He was an auto mechanic who painted cars and enjoyed the casinos. He liked hot rodding and tinkering with appliances.
A visitation will be held 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, from Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018. Father Rob Yaksich will celebrate the Mass. Cremation will follow the services, and the interment of the cremains will be on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, in Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Sapello, N.M., with the following serving as casket bearers: George Sena Jr., Travis Sena, Ramon Gurule III, Patrick Sandoval, Del Gonzales and Angelo Aragon. Honorary bearers will be all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
