Roman Latimer Lucero Sr., 46, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, N.M. passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018 in Rociada, N.M.
He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and friend. He dedicated his life to making beautiful things; he was a licensed contractor and loved what he did. His favorite things were hunting, fishing, camping and archery.
One of the things we will remember most is his smile and his ability to make others laugh. He was a natural born storyteller and had a heart of gold; he would give you the shirt right of his back.
Latimer also founded the first Narcotics Anonymous group in Las Vegas and sponsored many local recovering addicts over the years. He loved his community and his family; he will be dearly missed.
He was born to parents James Lucero and Annie Stewart on Feb. 27, 1972, in Ruidoso, N.M.
He is preceded in death by his nephew Phillip Matthew Mares; maternal grandparents Willie and Magdalena Stewart; uncles Gilbert Stewart and Willie Steward Jr.; aunts Ida Knight, Dulce Steward and Irene Martinez; paternal grandparents James Jr. and Juanita Lucero; and father-in-law Henry Owen.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Lucero of Las Vegas, N.M.; daughters Sabrina Lucero (Isaiah Malcom), Brittney Lucero (Daniel), all of Las Vegas, N.M.; son Roman Latimer Lucero Jr. of Las Vegas, N.M.; grandchildren Annalyse, Aleah, Aizlynn and Malaki; mother, Annie Lucero of Las Vegas, N.M.; father, James Lucero Jr. of Tularosa, N.M.; sister Lou Ann Mares (Phillip); brothers Bill Lucero and Nick Lucero, all of Las Vegas; Eric Lucero (Charli) of Ogden, Utah; special niece Nikki Mares; Wagner (Lonnie) and son Jaxton of Las Vegas; numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
Rosary will be recited on 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018. Funeral service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, with both services to be held at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George v. Salazar as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the San Jose Cemetery in Las Vegas, N.M.
