Stella Curb Obituary

October 19, 1920 - November 10, 2016 Stella Stout Curb, daughter of Charles Joseph Stout and Eloise Salazar Stout, was born in Ashland, Kentucky October 19, 1920. She moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania when she was 9 and went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh, where she got a Bachelor of Arts in English and was a proud Tri-Delt. She would later use that degree to be very sure her family had perfect grammar. She worked in the Dean of Men's office at the University after graduation and there met Charles McCloud Curb, an FBI agent who walked into the office and immediately asked if the cute brunette was available to assist him. He and Stella married in 1944 and Charles later went on to become General Council of Continental Oil and Consolidation Coal Company. They lived in Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC, Prescott, AZ and Oklahoma City, OK before finally settling in Southern California to raise their family. Stella is survived by her son Michael Charles Curb with wife Linda Dunphy Curb, and her daughter Carole Curb-Nemoy with husband Dr. Norman J. Nemoy. She is also survived by her grandchildren and their husbands Megan and Brian Cox, Courtney and Taylor Childress and Caroline and Teddy Picha, and 6 great grandchildren! Although small in stature, she was big in personality. Stella loved poetry, reading and was the ultimate playmate to her grandchildren when they were young. Nothing made her more proud than following the self-made business careers of her very ambitious children. Her son's talent and love for music and government, heavily influenced by his grandmother, gave her so much joy up until the day she died. Thanks to her daughter's International business travel Stella got to see the world, and France in particular. This truly gave her a new lease on life after her husband passed. Above all else, Stella lived for her family and in her unbiased opinion thought they were the very best there was. She has left her family, friends and anyone who was lucky enough to know her with a wealth of memories that will serve as constant reminders that she is still with us in spirit. When Stella passed she was surrounded by family and left this world in a way that would have made her smile. Charles Curb passed in 1990 and has been waiting over 25 years to get his girl back.

Carole & Michael,

I have so many great memories of our young lives when we lived almost next door on Atoll Ave in Sherman Oaks.

She always wrote to my mom at Christmas time and I loved ready her letters.

Your mom was always such a sweet, lovely, warmhearted, kind lady. I remember her gentle laugh.

She is at last joined with you dad. Together they made a wonderful couple.

Sincerely,

Pam "Wessendorf" Tucker
