January 21, 1939 - February 3, 2017 Russ was born in Chicago and moved to California in 1946. He attended Hamilton High School after which he enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1956 to 1962. Russ and Linda (Gehrman) met on a blind date in 1958 and they were married for 56 years. Russ joined the Los Angeles Police Department and graduated from the academy in 1963. He worked most of his career as a Detective and retired from LAPD after 25 years of service. His second career was in private security. Russ was an avid fisherman, both fresh and salt water - a passion he shared with his son Robbie. For Russ, it was all about the fishing and not just the catching although, more often than not he caught the jackpot fish. When the weather didn't cooperate, or the fishing was slow, Russ could often be found at the galley table over a friendly game of poker - again, he often came home with the jackpot. Russ is survived by his wife Linda and two children Robbie Mancini (Nancy) of Stevenson Ranch, Kathy O'Kelley (Blaine) of Seattle, sister Lorraine King, brother Randy Mancini and four grandchildren, Ryan, Kristen, Cameron and Kyle. A private celebration of his life will be held.

Dear Linda, Robbie and Kathy. Bless your family going forward. Your Russ was amazing: fun loving, direct, bright, cantankerous, prankster driven. My honor, as his former sister in law, to know him and love him. My love to you, Mancini Family.

I Just ran across this. I met Russ in 1962. We were stationed at San Miguel, in the Philippines. It sounds like Russ had a good full life.
