Cheo Solder Obituary

June 10, 1952 - July 1, 2018 Our dear brother Cheo has transitioned from this Earthly plane to create celestial sounds and poetry in the Heavens. His family and friends in USA, Switzerland and Qatar wish him a peaceful journey onwards in the Light. Cheo was a writer, performer and producer of poetry, prose, spoken word and improvised music.

My wife Teresa recently informed me that my brother Cheo has made his final transition from this earth. She has lit a candle in his memory.
To his wife Anna and his friends and colleagues, I express my shock and grief. Although, as we live on, year after year, we become more acutely aware that our own day of passing is more in our soon to be futures than our distant pasts. Although, we must accept the world as it is in this present moment, it feels that, perhaps, Cheos passing is a bit premature.
After his expatriation, Cheo and I had a relationship that centered mainly around kicking around every imaginable topic from A to Z via hours of long emails that can best best described as, not for youthful reading. Although we both captured and mastered the Kings English, as brothers hailing from Los Angeles and Brownsville, Brooklyn, NY, we mostly spoke and wrote in our native tongue.
I will miss those long, unedited rambling private emails. We spoke the truth as we knew it. Through Cheos writings and music that he offered to the world, he leaves a truth that was uniquely his. He will be missed and never forgotten.
Peace and Blessings,
Abu Bakr

I experienced such depth of character in our brief crossroads meeting, and spiritual impact. I sensed a collision of loving attitudes as I made my self scarce at a jazz venue one summer evening in Cambridge seeing the serious magic in his eyes for my friend Anna Gritchting in his first moment of encountering her. And Cheo was no less of a crossroads escort to my future, giving me a meaningful object and guiding words I will never forget as I embarked on a journey he was familiar with. I still have the gift and the simple but powerful words, and I have been trying for a week to figure out how to say that some people walk through the world making a difference at every crossroads. I am so honored to have been part of your earth travels, Cheo, in the fleeting flash of the moment you were meeting the love of your life. As brief as our crossroads meeting, the guiding role you played was meaningful to me. And now you thrive in a place where we don't have to fumble over the limitations of words that fall short of celebrating powerful encounters, a place where everything is simply felt and known. Love to all who loved you. It is my guess that many who knew you briefly call you friend. Carolyn

I was very saddened to hear of Cheo's Passing. Thank you, Cheo, for your friendship, and for inviting me to join your In the Bury project ten years ago. Your passion to bring beauty to the Roxbury community was heartfelt, and I was honored to take part. The music in heaven is more beautiful now that you are a part of it. Thank you. ❤

I knew Jeffery many years ago in junior high school in Los Angeles where we were in homeroom together for three years. He was tall and skinny and adorable -- with an innate wisdom far beyond his years. I'm sorry to say I never saw him again after graduation but I've always remembered him with affection. Safe journey old friend!

I met Cheo in Qatar and had many exchanges with him. He was a distinguished artist and a man of peace wishing to build bridges among cultures. We lost a friend and a very nice person, but these are the rules of life... and death!
