DALBY, David Merle
In loving memory of David Merle Dalby, born in Forada, Minnesota, and raised in Whittier, CA. Dave attended La Serna High School from 1965-1969 and was named All-State in football. Recruited by UCLA, Dave became team captain and was voted Most Valuable Player in his Junior year. Dave was recently inducted into the UCLA Hall of Fame. In 1973, Dave was drafted by the Oakland Raiders and during his illustrious career as starting center helped lead the team to three Super Bowl victories. Dave is survived by his loving dog Dillon, his daughter Christen Mary Dalby, his son Daniel Merle Dalby and their mom Cathy Dalby-London of Pleasanton, CA; also survived by his parents Merle and Marge Dalby and his sister Lisa Jenkins and brother Steve Dalby. We would like to thank Sue Yannion, his sweetheart and partner, Ed Galigher, the truest of friends, and Jim Otto and the Raider family for all their love and support. Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002. A memorial to Dave will be held on Sept. 22, 2002. Contact the family for more information. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been established in the name of Dave's children Christen and Dan Dalby. I met Dave briefly at Northern Az University when he came up.to visit my roomate, Denise Churchill. I remember him to be a gentle human.

Mom, Chris and Dan,
I am so sorry to hear about this. Your dad was a great guy who loved everyone who came into his life. He accepted people no matter what. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. To the family,
Dave Dalby gave me such great memories growing up and watching him play. It's an incredible loss for the Raider organization, as well as football. We will all miss him. Thanks, Dave, for all the great memories!
