Harada, Cynthia Tsukie

Cynthia Tsukie Harada, 71, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2013, in Omaha, Nebraska, following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by parents Seiichi and Matsuko Harada, and brothers Rev. David (and wife Lillian), Dr. William, and Joseph Harada. Survived by sisters-in-law Eleanor Harada (Pennsylvania) and Jane Harada (Hawaii), extended family, and many dear and cherished friends. Born in Lahaina, Hawaii, Cynthia obtained degrees from the U. Hawaii and UCLA, and lived in West LA for many years. She recently moved to Omaha, Nebraska to be near niece Grace Harada Lord. At the Westside YMCA, she was a swimming regular, where she spread good cheer and shared her ready smile. She also enjoyed hiking, camping, ocean swimming and boogie-boarding, gardening and flowers. In her professional life, Cynthia worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Counselor for over 40 years, most recently at the LA County San Pedro Mental Health Clinic. She was also a practitioner and tutor of Trager neuro-muscular movement reeducation, and was a devoted student of Wong Loh Sin See and a member of the Chee Chung meditation community. Cynthia was known for her wisdom, warmth, empathy, generosity, humor, playfulness, exuberance, and indomitable spirit. She exhibited ageless qualities and touched the hearts and lives of many people. Cynthia will be deeply missed and often remembered.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm, Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Self Realization Fellowship, Lake Shrine-Windmill Chapel, 17190 Sunset Blvd, Pacific Palisades, California 90272. Website: In lieu of flowers, contributions to meaningful non-profits are requested.
