Eustace A. Serafetinides

Eustace A. Serafetinides, Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UCLA died on July 16th at his home in Pacific Palisades, CA. He was born in Athens, Greece. He received his medical degree from Athens University in 1953 and subsequently, was a British Scholar at Maudsley Hospital, where he received his Ph.D. in Psychiatry and stayed on to produce pioneering research in his field. He was an eminent scholar of international renown, and held professorial positions in the US, initially at the University of Oklahoma and from 1971 onwards at UCLA. He was a Professor of Psychiatry and Director of Research at Los Angeles Veterans Administration for many years.
He was married to Jean Rawlinson in 1965, who passed away in June 2011. He is survived by his brother and sister and other relatives in Greece, the US and the UK. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
