THORNBACK, Jane Louise Age 88, passed away on Feb. 13, 2013 at Laney's Cottages in Costa Mesa, CA. She was born Jane Louise Ashworth on May 12, 1924 in Los Angeles, CA. She is survived by husband Charles L. Thornback, of Costa Mesa, CA, daughters Leslie A. Allen of Honolulu, HI, Jill L. Allen of San Francisco, CA and Lynn F. Allen of Bellingham, WA, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She also is survived by former husband, William F. Allen, of San Juan Capistrano, CA and Ashworth and Thornback family members. Jane had a full life and lived it to her fullest. A veteran of World War II, she served as a WAVE in the Naval Communication Intelligence Organization from 1944-1946, and was a dedicated elementary school teacher in Costa Mesa, CA. She lived in Laguna Beach, CA from the late 1950s to 1990, where she built multiple homes with her former husband and raised her daughters. Her passion was sailing and she spent many years cruising the Pacific between California, Mexico and Hawaii, and cruised the eastern seaboard as well. In 1994, she and Len sailed round trip from San Francisco to New Zealand in a 35-foot sloop. They lived aboard their boat in Dana Point and Ventura before returning to Orange County.
