Spencer Wiley Obituary

November 28, 1942 - December 6, 2016 Spencer Lillard Wiley, 74, died on December 6, 2016, at his Saint Simon's Island home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on November 28, 1942 to Ernest E., Jr., and Janie Lardner Wiley. He graduated from University High School in West Los Angeles in 1960, and went on to earn his college degree from the University of Michigan. Spencer worked in the financial industry in many capacities, including trading government agency bonds with Goldman Sachs for many years in New York. In New York he also met his late wife Lovejoy Skinner, where they settled down and spent many loving years raising a family. He was preceded in death by his spouse Lovejoy, his parents Ernest and Janie, and his brother Ernest Earle Wiley, III. He is survived by his daughters Anne Wiley Alphonso (Irin), Henrietta (Rhetta) Lovejoy Wiley (Mary), 7 grandchildren Nicole, Ashton, Janie, Allison, Michael, Spencer, and Lucinda, 5 great-grandsons, and 6 great-granddaughters. Spencer is also is also survived by his brother Lynford Lardner Wiley and his nephew Lynford Lardner Wiley, Jr. Spencer was a founding member of Ocean Forest Golf Club, and a long standing member of the Sea Island Club, the National Rifle Association, Kane Lodge Masonic brotherhood, and the Divers Action Network. He was also involved with a variety of clubs and charitable organizations on St. Simon's Island, in Brunswick, and in New York. Memories and Condolences
for Spencer Wiley

Not sure what to say?

My sincere condolences to each surviving family member. I remember Spencer fondly. As previously stated, each "Wiley boy" had a unquestionable and unique sense of humor...And, anyone within their circle would be hard pressed to keep up with their particular brand of wit.

May those memories comfort each of you, as you move through the grieving process.

Godspeed.

Very best regards,

Paula Marie Wiley-Rutter

May his memories be a blessing, bringing comfort to aching hearts as he R.I.P

December 13, 2016

The Wiley boys, Ernie, Lyn and Spence, grew up on Linda Flora Drive, in W.L.A. They were each unique in their own way, but they all had one thing in common: a great sense of humor. When any of them were around, laughter was present, and if two or three of them got together, it kept you on your toes.
Back in the fifties, a neighborhood friend told me that Spence was good in math. That was an understatement. He took that gift with him all the way to New York City, and he wound up making some colossal trades that earned him more than just a great reputation. They were the kind of trades that people write books and movies about, i.e. 'The Big Short.'
Spence enjoyed the finer things in life, and I admire him for following his passions and living the dream.
