April 26, 1942 - September 19, 2016 On September 19, the world said a final aloha to our beloved Susan Keirn. A longtime resident of Los Angeles, Susan was a loving and devoted wife, mother and sister, a loyal friend, and a strong, wise, spunky, courageous, kind, and gentle woman who was a cheerleader, bright light, and advisor to all she knew. She loved all things gardening, dogs, a good book, and pumpkin pie. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband Bill of Los Angeles, her daughter Colleen Keirn and her son-in-law Jason Mayfield of Oakland, CA, her sister Martha Chantiny of Kaneohe, HI, and her brother Michael Green. The family requests donations to the University of Hawaii Scholarship fund c/o Mark Fukeda, University of Hawaii Foundation, 1776 University Avenue, Everly Hall 131, Honolulu, HI 96822.

Susan was my friend, my coach, my counselor and my co-conspirator. She made me feel that anything is possible. My days are already filled with 'wait until Susan hears this' moments. Sending much love to Bill, Colleen and all of those who miss her. I am so grateful and honored that we were friends.
I met Susan when we organized the first garden tour and just before she passed she was delivering golden cherry tomatoes to my doorstep - this picture is so Susan!

We were deeply saddened to hear the news of Susan's Homecoming to Heaven. We knew Susan through Sandy Joyner (Pryce's mom and my mother-in-law) Sandy and Susan were very close. Susan always was so encouraging with our Special Needs Son (Caleb)with Down Syndrome Caleb is now 14 yr.'s old and in 9th grade and our daughter Megan is soon to be 16 and in 10th grade. Susan was a mentor and nice friend to us as a family. Her words carried strength and loving care for us. We never had the pleasure meeting her but felt as though we have. I (Sharon) will miss her sweet comments on my Smileboxes that I would send to her of our family slideshows.
Thank you Susan for being there for me and our family. I will surly miss you.
I will hang on to those great strength words of wisdom that you gave me.

Susan has slipped out of that tight old shoe and is soaring with the butterflies. To me she was a mentor at work and one who kept me in line when things got tough. I will always love her and miss her wonderful Facebook postings and comments.
