February 24, 1939 - July 29, 2019 David Richard Hartoch was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, with his sister, Lynn. He then moved to LA to finish his schooling. When David became interested in the wholesale insurance business, his hard work was obvious as he worked his way up the corporate ladder. In 1993, he served as president of the NAPSLO trade association. He served as president and CEO of Sherwood Insurance Services then served as chairman and CEO of Swett & Crawford from 1997 to 2003, when he retired. David touched so many hearts, in so many ways, throughout his lifetime. All those who met him, loved him. He was a devoted husband and an amazing father. David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy, his daughters and spouses, Nicole & Ian, Ashley & Erick, and our beautiful granddaughter, Matilda. Services will be held on Monday, August 5th at 2pm at Valley Oaks Mortuary, 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village. In lieu of flowers, donate to UCLA Neurology Research. There will be no reception after.

I'm so sorry to hear about Dave's passing. I had the pleasure of working with him at Sherwood Insurance where I was welcomed as a rookie to wholesale by Dave and Jim Barnes. They were a great team and complemented each other's characters so well. Dave with his Hawaiian shirts....thanks for being a great influence and I wish blessings on the family in your time of loss.

I had the privilege of serving on the NAPSLO Board when Dave was President. He was a stalwart in the Wholesale Insurance Industry and very successful in leading the NAPSLO Board and his business. He is and will be missed. May he Rest in Peace.

Very sad to hear the news today from Lynn of the passing of her dear brother, David Hartoch. I only met David a couple of times many, many years ago when visiting the US part of my family. But meeting David and Lynn and their partners and children including Adam and Dana and Kathy and David's then young daughters Ashley and Nicole remains with me as a special memory.

David was the eldest grandson of Eva and Abraham Jaffé. Sadly he is the first of our clan of just eight cousins, dispersed around the globe in England, Israel, Australia and USA to pass away.

May David's memory always be a comfort and a blessing to you Lynn, Kathy, Nicole, Ashley and all your family and friends.

Dave was always a considerate boss. He was receptive to inquires and willing to share insight and advice. He was a huge support to my family and me in 1997 when my oldest son passed away. He was so understanding and empathetic and I cherished his sympathy and support during a very difficult time. My heart is saddened to learn of his passing; it is our loss.
