Adelaide "Eva" Vega Obituary
December 15, 1919 - May 4, 2016 Adelaide "Eva" Vega (née Garcia), of Los Angeles, CA died peacefully in her home at 96 years old. Eva is survived by her four children; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Vega; her son, Richard Vega; her granddaughter, Theresa Perez; her grandson, Jeffrey Vega; her parents, Donaciano and Salome Garcia; and her sisters, Emma and Theresa. Eva was born in Mexico moving to the U.S. and settling in L.A. in 1930. She met and married Frank Vega in 1939 and they enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage together raising their five children in Silver Lake (trailblazing the hipster invasion) before making Atwater Village their home in 1979. Eva was a natural hostess and welcomed guests with gusto; her tamales were infamous and her family was convinced she could have been the Mama Celeste of the category. She was as generous as she was ebullient and her good karma was evident with streaks of luck in Las Vegas where she tore up the slot machines. Eva was a constant source of affection and always willing to lend a compassionate ear with few exceptions and those were during All My Children, Jeopardy, and figure skating competitions. Eva loved nothing more than her family and will be remembered as one of the most kindhearted people to those who had the good fortune of knowing her. She will be missed dearly and often.
