Albert Judis Obituary
September 16, 1923 - May 18, 2015 Albert Judis passed away peacefully at the Jewish Home for the Aging in Reseda, CA. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, and moved to California after serving honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Radio Airman in WWII. He met his future wife, Jessie Portugal, at his jewelry store in Los Angeles and they were happily married for 68 years. Al had a successful career in the jewelry industry for over 40 years. Not content with retirement he obtained his real estate license at age 76 and had a second successful career in the mortgage business. Al was a lifelong athlete and enjoyed participating in many sports Ping Pong and Volleyball at the Beverly Hills Health Club where he was a member for many years. He also bowled, played tennis and golf, and enjoyed weight lifting in his younger days with his brothers Sam, Harry, and Joe. Always interested in politics and world affairs Al was an avid book reader and dedicated crossword puzzle aficionado. More importantly he will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind and gentle soul who had a smile for everybody he met. He is survived by his wife, Jessie, son Barry (Phyllis "Sam" Judis), daughters Janine D'Amico and Danielle Judis, grandson Cody Bias, and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on June 7th, at 11:00 AM at the Ziman Family Synagogue at the Jewish Home for the Aging in Reseda (Eisenberg Village Campus).
