Ann Potter Obituary

October 27, 1922 - August 24, 2013 Ann Stimson Potter passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2013. She was born in Houston, Texas, on Oct. 27, 1922, the second of three children born to Irene Gawley Stimson and Arthur Carl Stimson. She left Texas to attend Purdue University, where she met the love of her life, Richard Carter Potter. They wed in 1948, and moved to Manhattan, KS, where their first four children were born. In 1959, they moved to Southern California and had two more children. Except for a brief stint in Louisville, they remained in California for the rest of her life, residing in Inglewood for almost forty years. In 2004 they retired to The Covington in Aliso Viejo. Ann loved playing golf, bridge, and going to the theatre with Dick. She was a big fan of the Purdue Boilermakers and the Lakers. Many years ago she was an active member of the Episcopal Bishop's Guild in Los Angeles, serving as its president for a year. She also was a member of Lifelighters, a charity in Los Angeles, and joined a women's prayer group at All Saints Episcopal Parish in Beverly Hills, where she made many life-long friends Ann is survived by her husband, Richard; six children (Rosann Balbontin, Ellen Santochi, Joan Adan, Martin Potter, Carter Potter, and Curtis Potter); nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She also leaves behind her two brothers in Texas, Art and Lewis Stimson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of Ann's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 26th, at The Covington.
