Anthony Filosa Obituary
January 2, 1940 - July 4, 2018 Anthony "Tony" Filosa, 78, of Los Angeles, CA unexpectedly passed away on July 4, 2018, with his beloved wife of 33 years Bernadette Albanese Filosa by his side. Born Jan. 2, 1940, in San Diego, CA to parents, Eva Todesco and Edward Filosa, Tony was known for his professional work ethic and strong dedication to public service, first serving his country in the US Coast Guard from 1958 to 1966, then working continuously until retiring from a 51 year career with the Los Angeles Municipal Courts. Tony began in the mail room in 1961 dragging court mailbags up the hills of Los Angeles, eventually becoming the youngest appointed Court Administrator for the Beverly Hills Municipal Court while also attending law school at night. He worked as a staff attorney and Traffic Court Referee and in 1988 was appointed Court Commissioner. Upon his retirement in 1999 Tony continued working for the courts part time until 2011, while also volunteering on his local neighborhood council and at Cedars Sinai Hospital. He was especially proud of his reoccurring role in the TV show, "Nathan For You." Tony was loved for his keen sense of humor, beautiful singing voice and love of movies, as well as his unadulterated delight at sitting in his backyard with a cigar and glass of white wine. Many got nicknames from "Uncle Tony,"; he loved his family including wife Bernie ("Po"), daughter Danielle ("Peeps"), sons Anthony and Christopher, brother Edward, daughter-in-law Tami, granddaughters Christina ("Astina"), Brianna, and Cassidy ("Birdie"), as well as Bernie's and his many friends and extended family members. All are invited to his memorial service on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 3 PM at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers his family asks that people gather with their family and friends and raise a glass of wine toasting Tony remembering his words at the end of each court day, "That's a wrap!"
