June 7, 1928 - September 7, 2015 Arlette Crandall, of Beverly Hills, California and Turenne, France passed away on September 7, 2015. She was the daughter of Feride and Jacques Passy, sister of Renee Passy Zale and the most beloved wife of Earle Crandall for 51 years. Arlette was cherished as a mother to Alan, Phillip, Carolyn and Marc and as a vibrant grandmother of 5 boys: Christopher, Lucas, Joshua, Julien and Joseph. She was born in sight of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, where she studied Fashion Design and Art History. She and her family survived the occupation of France by the Nazi's, which is a tribute to her father, who was in the French Underground. She and Earle met in Paris while Earle was pursuing postdoctoral studies,and she ultimately moved to California to start their life and family together. In Los Angeles, Arlette had a distinguished career as Director of International Relations at the School of the Arts at UCLA and was a well-known and well-loved member of the French and Diplomatic communities. She promoted international exchanges in the arts. Because of this work, Arlette was Knighted twice by the French Government; the first was Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters and the second was Chevalier of the Order of Merit. Arlette was loved by everyone who knew her, and, through her work and her personal life, she affected a great many people. Funeral Services will be held at 9 am on Saturday, September 12th at Forest Lawn Memorial Park 1712 S Glendale Ave, Glendale, CA 91205. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to .
