Arthur Chase Moore Obituary
Arthur Chase Moore of Glendale passed away on November 8th at the age of 104. He was born in Poseyville, Indiana on March 24, 1913 to Henry Arthur and Mary Moore and the third of ten children. He helped work the family farm and in 1931, after difference of opinion with his father on how to stack hay onto a cart, he hitchhiked to California. He worked for Lockheed Overseas Corp in Burbank, Ireland, Iceland and France, then for Marquardt Corp and Electrolux. In 1951, he married Ruth (Paugh) Cleland. In 1953, they broke ground on the family home on Wabasso Way. Art was an active member for many years of the Verdugo Woodlands PTA and the Dads Club. He was also instrumental in the building of the Youth House on Canada and was awarded a lifetime membership in the California PTA. He loved the Fathers Follies and was active as an Ancient Lovely until last year. He was an Assistant Scout Master of Troup 13, Glendale, where many lifetime friendships were made. More than anything, family was the most important to him. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Ruth, sons Jerry Cleland (Marlys), Pat Moore (Teri) of Fremont, Bruce Moore (Claudia) and daughter Karin Jonke. Also Grandchildren, Debi Larkin-Chavez, Kevin Cleland, Jeff Jonke and Shannon Moore and 6 Great Grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Services will be held at Forest Lawn Glendale, Little Church of the Flowers on Tuesday, November 21 at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Verdugo Woodlands Dads Club, 1728 Canada Blvd., Glendale 91208 are requested.
