Barbara Shaw-Miller Obituary
August 9, 1940 - February 10, 2017 Barbara Shaw-Miller, age 76, passed away on February 10, 2017, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Barbara moved to Glendale, California at the age of six. She graduated from Glendale High School in 1958, and married her first husband, Spencer "Bud" Shaw, with whom she had two children. She had a career in broadcast radio media where she was an Executive Assistant for KJOI and Star 98.7 radio. She married Bob Miller in 1983, who passed away in 2009. They spent 26 wonderful years traveling and listening to his extensive collection of jazz music. Barbara always had either a book in her hand or knitting needles and was a member of the "Jewel City Knitting Guild." She donated a great deal of her time knitting for her favorite causes; receiving blankets for underprivileged newborns, scarves for our military troops overseas and blankets for rescued animals at the pound. She was also a member of "Bosom Buddies," a breast cancer support group. Barbara was one "classy" lady with a quick dry wit that will not be forgotten. She was very loving and loyal to her family and friends, and will be sorely missed. She is survived by her son, Clinton Shaw and his wife, Lisa Ryan; daughter, Carla Shaw de Heras; stepson Doug Miller and wife Jennifer Quintana; stepdaughter Julie Miller and husband Mike Sjaastad; sisters-in-law, Donna Russell and Linda Palmer; two grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
