Belva Roberts Obituary
1928 - 2016 88, A Missouri gal with a Distinguished Rifleman's Rating, arrived with her parents, Lloyd and Marie Fryer in San Diego, her Senior year of high school. Surrounded by older siblings and their families, she embraced the California lifestyle, always swimming out past the breakers at the beach. Belva married John W. Roberts (Barney) in 1948 & daughters Karen & Susan were born, prior to the family relocating to Santa Monica. Barney was employed by McDonald Douglas until his medical retirement in his 40's. Belva was hired at the Coop Credit Union which launched a 35 year career in management, first @ the Coop followed by the Santa Monica Consumers Credit Union. When selected as Chairperson for the CU establishment, she was one of 5 women to have held that position. An exceptional public speaker, she spent her professional life supporting, growing, guiding the financial institution she believed in. In 1972 she met Bill Brammer on a bikeride near the beach. That launched a 40+ year relationship, of national and international travel, time with grandchildren Gabriel & Brooke, plenty of Golf & daily gin rummy games. Preceded in death by daughter Karen & Bill Brammer, she is survived by daughter Susan, Gabriel (Marie), Brooke (Ben) & great granddaughter, Poppy. She opened her heart and home to everyone. Susie remembers coming home from school, new people inside the house, greeting them and knowing they would be staying a while. A family burial will be held, then a Celebration of Life at a later date & info will be on "CUPS". Email [email protected] for time/place of Celebration. The world will be more still now without Belva's passion for life. She will be missed.
