The youngest of 7 children, he was raised in Lincoln Heights. An advocate of education, he was open minded, and had a great appreciation for the world and those around him. Ben graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1951 and was the 1st member of his family to graduate college. One of his successes was having all of his children graduate college. Ben joined the army in 1951 and was stationed in Alaska. After the Army he joined the Army Corps of Engineers, where he met and fell in love with Donna Schiblin. They were married and had 3 children, Tom, Teri and Crissi. Ben and Donna remained married for 52 years. They were members of the Roamin' Catholics, a social group that travelled the United States in Rv's. Ben was always sensitive to the struggles of all people and in particular, Native Americans. Ben lived a good life, loved to travel, attended church regularly and overlooked the small stuff. His last words were "I'm happy". The Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Angels Church in Arcadia, CA on Wednesday, March 9 at 6:30 pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers you make a donation in his honor to: Alzheimer's, Greater Los Angeles, 4221 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90010. Cabot & Sons
