Bernard Yarchover Obituary
June 30, 1931 - August 16, 2017 With a heavy heart, we share that Bernard passed away on August 16, 2017. Originally a New Yorker, Bernie proudly attended Stuyvesant High School in New York City and graduated as a pharmacist from Fordham University. He owned his own pharmacy and serviced nursing homes and acute care facilities throughout Southern California, working until age 82. He became the first consulting pharmacist in California and was asked to serve on the American Pharmacy Board. Bernie was a mensch in every sense of the word, devoting his life to being a good person and touching the lives of as many people as possible. Compassion and honesty were an essential part of his character. Hockey was Bernie's passion. He had season seats to the LA Blades and was one of original seat holders of the Los Angeles Kings. A highlight was witnessing the LA Kings' first Stanley Cup victory after an agonizing 45-year wait. The only thing Bernie was more passionate about than hockey was his family. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather and loved his family above all else. Bernie is survived by his wife, his loving children and his devoted grandchildren. The world is a better place because of his life, and a light has gone out for all of us. A memorial service took place on August 20th at Congregation Tikvat Jacob in Manhattan Beach. Donations in his honor can be made to the Kings Care Foundation or ARMDI.
