Bernice Weeks Loyd

Obituary Condolences

December 28, 1923 - October 27, 2015 Bernice Weeks Loyd (née Forbus) passed peacefully in her home on October 27, 2015, with family by her side. Born on a small farm outside Crowder, Oklahoma, she grew up with no running water, electricity or gas, and lived to see the age of the Internet. She married James Weeks during World War II before he deployed as a radio/gunner with Allied forces in North Africa, and upon his return bore and raised two daughters with him, Mary and Linda. James passed in 1971, and Bernice again found happiness several years later with Frederick "Newt" Loyd, a Freemason and Shriner who had a smile and chat for everyone he met. Bernice was active with two fraternal and charitable organizations, Daughters of the Nile and Order of the Eastern Star, and as a member of her church. She is survived by her daughter, Linda; three grandchildren, Stacey, Derek, and Sean, and a great-grandson, Alec, all of whom love her very much and will keep their memories of her close.
