Betsy (Betty Jo) Lutz Obituary
December 12, 1928 - August 22, 2017 Our precious friend, Betsy Lutz, died Monday night/Tuesday morning, August 21/22, 2017, in her home. A warm, friendly woman who attracted friends and admirers wherever she went. A kindergarten/1st grade teacher by vocation. It is amazing that she made such a lasting impression on children she had taught 40, 50 years earlier, that when I would walk on the street with her she would often be stopped by former students┬┐by children and their parents who recognized her and raved about how she had taught these young children about great art, about music, kindness, and respect for others. Lessons that had made a profound and lasting impression on their lives! An avid master bridge player, she had a wide circle of warm friends! My sweet special friend since the 8th grade. Though she never married, she had our large, loving family to whom she was "Aunt Betsy" who loved her! Several years ago she took it upon herself to gather our hundreds of loose photographs (before iPhones) and put them into scrapbooks for us and for each of our grandchildren! Many people who learned what she had done for us asked her to do that for all their loose photographs, and offered to pay generously. But, she said that there wasn't enough money to undertake that enormous task! What she had done for us was "a Labor of Love"! In the last month of her life, as she was failing, nearly every day Larry and I, and/or one of our children or grandchildren, some of whom came from far away, went over to visit her to tell her we loved her. On her last day I was there with our son and a granddaughter from the East Coast, and after her workday our daughter also came to see her. Her nurse told us that Betsy's blood pressure improved after we were there and that she thought Betsy had heard us even though she couldn't speak. Betsy had made arrangements with the Neptune Society to be buried at sea, so, there won't be a funeral. Our family will gather to remember Betsy. Barbi and Larry Weinberg
