Betty Ailene Flor Obituary
November 24, 1925 - March 27, 2017 Betty Ailene Flor, 91, born on November 24, 1925 in San Diego, California, passed away March 27, 2017. Her Funeral-Memorial service was held at Forest Lawn in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California, on April 1, 2017. Betty was born in San Diego to Olga Johnson and Henry Taylor. She was the oldest of five children, and is survived by her sisters Ardis Lewis and Joloise Calkins, and brother Jon Taylor. Her brother Harry Taylor predeceased her in 2009. On June 1, 1947, Betty married Kenneth Leo Flor, Sr. of San Diego. They made their home on 67th Street, not far from San Diego State College, and there raised their son Ken and two daughters, Cheryl and Debra. Betty was very active in her community. She participated in the war efforts by volunteering for the USO, helping returning veterans learn how to dance. Additionally, she worked for Ryan Aeronautical as a riveter during WWII. As a mother, she became a Campfire Girls Leader, inspiring her two daughters to be the amazing young women that they are today. Betty was an active member of the Lutheran Church. Betty and her husband Ken moved to Beverly Hills to live with their eldest daughter Cheryl and her husband Haim, in 1999. Even though she was content and happy living in Beverly Hills, she took up new hobbies such as gardening and collecting thimbles. She charmed all of the family friends with her warm smile and adorable laugh. She brightened the lives of all who knew her. At the time of her death, Betty Ailene Flor was at home - surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her children, Ken Jr., Cheryl, and Debra; Cheryl's husband Haim and their children: Tifanie, Heidi, Ness, and Tanya; Debra's husband Doug Joseph and their daughters Kelsey and Ashley Love-Tamas; Tifanie's husband Chris Chaney, and their children Marley and Griffin; Heidi's children Jaccoa, Sarenne and Guthrie, her fiancé, Ben Clyne; and Ashley's husband Lucian Tamas.
