Betty Fitzgerald Pomeroy Obituary
March 14, 1926 - December 7, 2015 Betty Jane Fitzgerald Pomeroy of Los Angeles, California passed away peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2015 at the age of 89. Betty was born on March 14, 1926 in Los Angeles to Roy and Marguerite Howe Fitzgerald. Betty graduated from Los Angeles High School and UCLA where she majored in art. Betty was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and she met her future husband at a Sigma Nu fraternity party. Betty's former husband, William Cyrus Pomeroy, Jr., was a prominent St. John's Hospital internist and cardiologist until his death on April 26, 1980. Her older sister, Dorothea Fitzgerald, preceded her in death on December 19, 2002. Betty Pomeroy took great pride in being a mother and grandmother to her seven children and her nine grandchildren. Betty loved traveling, especially to the Hawaiian island of Maui. She was a long time parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle in Westwood and all seven of her children attended St. Paul the Apostle School. She is survived by her seven children - Nancy Pomeroy Kindel (Martin), Dave Pomeroy (Alice), Lisa Pomeroy (William Bailey), Michael Pomeroy (Lynette Smith), Steven Pomeroy, Mark Pomeroy (Patrizia Busoli), Kathleen Pomeroy (William Steven Pryor). She is survived by her nine grandchildren - Kevin, Ryan and Trevor Kindel, Jane (Craig Jacobson) and John (Caleb Nichols) Pomeroy, Madison and McKenna Bailey, and Lauren and William Pryor. Betty Jane Fitzgerald Pomeroy loved her children unconditionally, and she gave them the confidence that comes with growing up feeling loved. She will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Church followed by a burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Regency Park Oak Knoll in Pasadena.
