Betty Jean (Pitzer) Bligh Obituary
August 10, 1927 - October 11, 2015 Betty was born and raised in Covina citrus family of Jay and Kathleen Pitzer. After graduating from Covina High School she entered and graduated from USC, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. At USC she met the love of her life, William Bligh, who had returned from the Army Air Corps as a flight trainer in WWII. Betty was a sweetheart of Bill's fraternity, Sigma Chi. After college they married and built a beautiful life together in Southern California. They were married 55 wonderful years before Bill's passing in 2003. Betty is survived by her loving children: son, Jay Bligh and his wife Cindy; daughters, Janis Webster and Julie Earnest; adoring grandchildren, William Bligh and wife Alberta, Jennifer Bligh, Robert Bligh and wife Deanna, and Tom Earnest; along with step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Padilla and wife Christine, Gregory Padilla and wife Megan, and Nicole Steele. Additionally Betty was blessed to have nine great grandchildren: Roselee, Liam, Rylee, Dorian, Hudson, Lauren, Kathryn, Sierra and Olivia. Betty is also survived by her sister, Janet Riggs and her family. William, Betty and Jay Bligh started Bligh Roofing Company in the early 1970's and it continues as a family business to this day. Betty was a avid USC football supporter and world traveler. She enjoyed golf at Hacienda Country Club and Bermuda Dunes Country Club. She was a fine oil painter and water colorist. It is with great sadness that we mourn her passing. She was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her; and her loving spirit will carry on. She will be forever loved and missed.
