Betty L. Hall Obituary
September 24, 1919 - January 14, 2017 Betty Lou Hall passed away peacefully on 1/14/2017 at the age of 97. Betty was born in Caldwell, Idaho on 9/24/1919 where she lived on the family farm until 1938. She then moved with her family to the Los Angeles area. She was particularly fond of the Echo Park area where she proudly lived most of her adult life. Betty was quite accomplished for a woman of her generation. She graduated from UCLA with a BS in Microbiology. She then went on to a long and successful career with the Los Angeles Department of Health. She was always very proud of her accomplishments as a scientist and cherished her role in public health. Professional success aside, Betty's other passions were travel, the outdoors and the arts. Betty was an avid traveler and over her lifetime logged thousands of miles to far away locations including trips to Europe and Africa. As a hiker and outdoors enthusiast and Sierra Club supporter, Betty had many outdoor adventures, including the summits of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Whitney. Another of Betty's great passions was Opera. She never missed the opportunity to take on in and was a great supporter of the L.A. Opera scene and the arts in general. Betty is preceded in deaty by her Mother; Rose, Father; Charles, Sister; Eileen, Brothers; Claude, Vernon Ralph, Glenn and Larry. She is survived by numerous adoring nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held 9am - 2pm on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Green Hills Mortuary and a graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Green Hills Memorial Park.
