Betty May Hale McLaughlin Obituary
November 7, 1923 - July 10, 2017 Betty May Hale McLaughlin, 93, passed away peacefully July 10th, 2017 and was preceded in death by her husband Edward H. McLaughlin Jr. She is survived by her children Edward H. McLaughlin III (Denise), Richard H. McLaughlin (Hope), and Ann Ruttle (Paul); 5 grandchildren, Meegan Barrena Ferrari, Edward H. McLaughlin IV, Hughes P. McLaughlin, Caitlin Hale McLaughlin, and James A. McLaughlin, 8 great-grandchildren, and her sister Janet Havard Mosser. Betty was born in San Francisco to Betty and Newton J. Hale, attended Stanford University, and upon her marriage moved to Los Angeles in 1945. Betty was active in Los Angeles society and had wide ranging interests - golf, skiing, philanthropy, the French and their language, and traveling the world - probably her only regret was to not have made the galactic flight to space! She will be remembered for her generosity, love of the arts, and family, especially her "greats." She will truly be missed, always in our hearts, and never forgotten. Funeral Mass will take place at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 19th at St. Brendan's Catholic Church with a private interment the following day. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are appreciated to the Huntington Library (huntington.org), Verbum Dei High School (verbumdei.us), and Homeboy Industries (homeboyindustries.org).
