Betty Roach Obituary
June 20, 1925 - August 20, 2016 Our beloved mother Betty Roach passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 91. She was an elegant, charming, loving woman who always had a smile on her face and lit up the room wherever she went. Born in Sand Springs Oklahoma to Fannie and Jospeh Kraus, she was one of five children. She moved to Los Angeles at the age of 19 and married our father Harold Roach (deceased). Philanthropy was very important to her. She was a past president of the American Youth Symphony under Mehli Mehta. She was also a city wide vice chair of UJF and was a past chair of Emerald Zahiv division of the Federation. In addition, Betty was chosen as woman of the year of the associates group of the Jewish Home for the Aging and played a very active role at the home. She also established the Harold and Betty Roach Service Scholarship Endowment Fund for Student Education for Jewish Vocational Services. Betty was a founder at the Music Center, a past Blue Ribbon member, a pillar member at Temple Emanuel and was a donor to the 21st Century Campaign in honor of the rebuilding of the building of the 6505 building. She leaves behind her 3 children Patricia Finkel, Dennis Roach (Jill), Stephen Roach (Katie) and her grandchildren, David (Anya), Alexis, Stephanie, Justine, Carrie (Alan), Meg (Sam), Emily, Sandra (Jericho), Abbe, Lindsey and great-grandchildren Riely, Mac, Libby, Alice, Shane and Xavi. She was lovingly cared for by her caregivers Suzette, Myrna, Ging, Merly and Daisy, her housekeeper of many years. Funeral services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park on Tuesday at 11 am. No flowers please, but charitable donations may be made to the Associates IMC 818-774-3375 or the United Jewish Federation or the . Malinow and Silverman Mortuary 800-710-7100.
