Beverley Joan Dorfman Obituary
September 4, 1921 - June 8, 2017 Our beloved Beverley Dorfman passed away in her home, surrounded by family, June 8th at 9:15 AM. She died as she lived, with class, courage, and spunk. Bev was born in Australia in a doctor's family. She studied nursing and entered the Australian Air Force during WWII. She came to the US as a war bride and had three children and then went to UCLA where she received an undergraduate degree in Psychology, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She earned advanced degrees in Psychology and Social Work and went on to a 25-year career in Psychotherapy. Along the way she met Steve Dorfman at UCLA and they married and raised four children in Westwood, CA. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their four children, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, siblings, and many nieces and nephews in December 2015. Bev had many interests over her lifetime: travel (all continents and oceans and 3 major rivers), language (French, Italian and Classical Greek), reading (mostly English history and Arctic exploration), tennis (playing and watching), games (Boggle and bridge), writing, music (jazz and blues), dancing, animals, improvisational theater, cryptic crossword puzzles, ikebana, and, most of all, family. Bev and Steve moved to University Village in Thousand Oaks in 2010 and made many good friends there. Bev lived a remarkable and full life; she touched and enriched the lives of many people. She will be missed.
