Beverly Brewster Vieau Obituary
February 16, 1926 - January 28, 2017 Beverly Brewster Vieau, of Pacific Palisades, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the age of 90. Her mother, Eleanor, and father, John Brewster, moved from Missouri to Santa Monica and established Brewster's Food Mart on Montana Ave. As a young girl in Santa Monica, she enjoyed playing the piano and giving recitals. This lifelong passion continued at Santa Monica High School, as a music major at UCLA and as a piano teacher for a loyal legion of young students in the Palisades. At UCLA, she was class treasurer and a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Beverly met the love of her life, Harold Vieau, a WWII Navy pilot from Minneapolis, at a USO dance in Santa Monica. A year later, upon his return from the Pacific in 1945, they were married and settled in Pacific Palisades. Beverly and Harold enjoyed a remarkable love affair over 71 years of marriage. She was a caring, thoughtful person to all who met her. She also possessed considerable inner strength, battling polio as a young mother of two in the early 1950s, breast cancer in midlife, a heart attack, and lived with a pacemaker for many years. Most people never knew of her challenges; she never complained nor slowed down. She was involved in the Palisades community with the American Legion Auxiliary, Corpus Christi Church, Santa Monica High School Alumni Association and the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She leaves her dear husband, Hal, her three children, Jerry, Jan and Joan, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, 890 Toyopa Dr., Pacific Palisades, February 6, 2017, 10:00 am. We will all miss you, we love you and God bless you.
