Blanche B. Haviland Obituary
February 25, 1933 - November 15, 2017 Daughter of Raymond and Stella (Mapes) Burns, wife of Max L. Haviland, mother of Loel (wife LaRee) and Joey (wife Martha), step-grandmother of Scott and Jaymie Forbes, step-great-grandmother to Brieanne, Anthony, and Andrew Forbes. Blanche lived in Long Beach and Bell Gardens during her formative years before ending in Whittier. She enjoyed the beach, swimming and outdoor activities. She was employed as a Teacher's Aide for 25 years at Lowell Joint School District in Whittier working with special needs students which went well with her love of children. Blanche was a Red Cross certified swimming instructor for many years and must have taught every child in the neighborhood how to swim during the summer months. She, along with husband Max were very involved in the Norwalk Elks Lodge, square dancing, and traveling in their trailer. Her hobbies were playing cards, crafts, playing the organ and making wedding cakes. The Haviland family would like to thank the staff at Prestige Assisted Living in Lancaster for their efforts in comforting our mother for the last seven years with her battle with dementia. Also, and additional thanks goes to Vitas Hospice for the last several months of specialized care. Service to be held at Rose Hills, Whittier on Thursday, November 30th at 1:00PM in the Memorial Chapel. Blanche will be missed by family and friends.
