Blossom Folb Obituary
January 10, 1920 - June 14, 2015 Blossom Folb was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 10, 1920 and passed away in her sleep on June 14, 2015. Throughout her life and career as a painter, sculptor, jewelry designer and educator she considered herself a New Yorker. This remained true even after she and her husband, artist, playwright and television writer Jay Folb moved to Los Angeles, California in 1974. He passed away in 1997. Blossom was a visionary artist, working in many media, merging her profound spirituality with representational work, while always revealing her unique perspective of life. Blossom designed jewelry for Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. Her designs were considered to be striking interpretations of wearable sculpture. She was the recipient of The Heydenryk Prize, The Lena Newcastle Prize, The Margaret M. Cooper Prize and The Aileen O. Webb Prize. She is listed in Who's Who of American Women (1974-1975 edition.) Blossom was a devoted student of Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati (formerly Dr. Ramamurti Mishra), a respected teacher of Yoga-Vedanta. These studies deeply influenced a significant part of her work. Blossom's boundless energy and joy profoundly affected the lives of everyone she touched and she will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
