Bob Osgood Obituary

Osgood, Bob April 28, 1918 - Oct. 4, 2003
World-renown square dance leader, magazine publisher, and loving father died peacefully on Oct. 4, 2003. Bob was owner/publisher/editor of Sets In Order Magazine. A student of Lloyd Shaw, he was actively involved in square dancing worldwide during calling career. He was instrumental in the development of CALLERLAB, the international Association of Square Dance Callers. Donations may be made to the CALLERLAB Foundation for the Preservation and Promotion of Square Dancing or the charity of your choice. A celebration of Bob's life will be held Saturday, October 18, at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant in Van Nuys, CA at 11:30 a.m. Bob is survived by his large family and many friends who will miss him. LIFE ETERNAL. I LEARNED THE HISTORY

OF SQUARE DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY THRU SETS IN ORDER.I STILL HAVE THE HALL OF FAME RECORDS.HE LOVED CONTRAS.I MET HIM ONCE.WHAT A WONDERFUL PERSON.HE LOVED THE ACTIVITY AND EVERYONE IN IT

I was sorry to hear of Bob's passing.He was one of the most influential people when it came to square dancing. We will miss him greatly.

Bob was a real inspiration to this caller who was active in the 70's, 80's and 90's in Michiana and Mid-Michigan. No longer calling, I still have a room full of Sets In Order magazines from when it was the closest thing to a textbook we could get.
