Brainard H. Miller Obituary
June 1, 1926 - December 16, 2017 Brainard passed away peacefully, of natural causes on December 16. Born in Metropolis, Ill., he attended McKendree University after his honorable discharge from the army in November, 1946. He then attended USC and graduated in 1951 with a BA degree in Cinema. He worked as a camera assistant at MGM until 1959, working on films such as "Singin' in the Rain", "Ben-Hur", "North by Northwest", etc. In 1968 he began work as cinematographer, writer and editor for various aerospace companies. Then, he began producing his own award winning documentaries on South America; Solvang; Rothenburg, Germany; Sequoia National Park; Metropolis, Illinois, etc. In 2009 he received the McKendree University award for outstanding achievement in language, literature and communication. Brainard was a world traveler and avid supporter of classical music, including opera and the ballet. In his retirement, he was happiest in his Zen garden, reading, or viewing one of the hundreds of classic musicals and dramas he owned from the golden age of MGM and Hollywood. We hope that he will now be reunited with his beloved cat Mischa, who passed on several years ago.
