Burton B. Sandiford Obituary
December 12, 1919 - October 13, 2015 Burton B. Sandiford, 95, left this world on October 13 to be reunited with Eleanor, his true love and wife for over 63 years, who predeceased him in 2011. Burt was born in Southern California and lived on Balboa Island for the past three decades. During WWII, he served as a U.S. Navy Lieutenant stationed on the USS Case, a destroyer in the Pacific. Burt received his Masters in Chemistry from the University of Southern California, and is credited with over 25 patents related to boosting production in oilfields across the U.S. and the world. His many talents included fishing in the Eastern Sierras, gardening, photography, and rehashing his adventures with his grandchildren. Burt's secret for staying young was watching plenty of USC football, his standard hot dog and cold beer lunch, sitting out on the front porch, and never passing up dessert. But his greatest happiness was spending time with Eleanor and his wonderful family. He is survived by his daughters, Shirley and Susan; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Burt will also be welcomed by both of his brothers, Lathrop (97) and Robert (92), who passed away earlier this year.
